There is no question we are thrilled President Obama declared his support for repealing "Don't ask, don't tell" (DADT) During the State of the Union Address. The question that keeps nagging us is "what happens now?" We reported earlier in the week that a year long study began to figure out the best way to execute the repeal. At first it seemed like another long road to nowhere, but Ryan McDermott of the Huffington Post made a strong argument about why we should let the turtle win this race:
McDermott suggests: stronger military. The repeal process may move slower than some might hope, but the outcome is more likely to have a positive effect than if it were not measured. With that said, there is hope that momentum achieved early on can lead to faster implementation. If slow means a stronger more cohesive military force than we will wait. Of course we will be watching to make sure that the infamous Washington red tape doesn't push action into the next election cycle.
