Matthew Shepard's parents share their take on the March and what's next for the LGBT cause
The parents of Matthew Shepard, the gay man who was murdered during a brutal hate crime in 1998, Judy and Dennis Shepard gave OURsceneTV a revealing look into what went through their minds during the historic eve of the Equality March on Washington. Not only does Judy Shepard tell us what it's going to take to get full and equal rights, we captured Matthew's father, Dennis after President Obama's speech and got the scoop on his reactions.
And they both have a pretty good idea about what Matthew would be doing if he were still alive. OSTV was there with the Shepards and had this intimate chat with the couple.
On October 8, the US House approved the Matthew Shepard Act, the hate crime bill that adds federal protection for violent crimes based on a person’s sexual orientation. The bill is expected to easily pass a Senate vote, and then moves on to President Obama's desk for signature.
