Pop Icon is Proud to be an LGBT Advocate
One of the most recognizable faces in the music world, Grammy Award Winner Cyndi Lauper is also one of the fiercest allies of the LGBT community. Founder of the True Colors Fund and Give A Damn Campaign, Lauper has paved the way for gay-straight alliances. Recently Lauper has planned to open a shelter in Harlem for homeless youth who have been disowned due to their sexuality. The True Colors Residence is scheduled to open in December 2011 and will house LGBT individuals ages 18-24. As a vocal artist, Cyndi has released over 11 albums and multiple top hits including "Time after Time" and "Girls just wanna have fun".
